Your favourite web app?

What's your favourite web app? The one you just can't live without. Is your social life ruled by Facebook? Do you twitter, obsessively? Plan your holidays around your Dopplr friends and your tunes around last.fm?

Or... is it us? IS IT? Of course it is.

Either way, those nice folks over at Carsonified are doing a little poll, and they'd like your input. They want to find people's top 10 web apps, and they'll be announcing the results on 5th Feb. And why should you tell them, of all people? Well, because it's quite interesting and I'd like to know the answer. Oh! And there's also the chance of winning a Nintendo Wii!

So go take a look and cast your vote.

And while we're on the subject of Facebook, we've already mentioned you can make MOO stuff with your Facebook photos, but now we also have a 'fan' page. It made us blush a little bit at your kind requests that we make one - we're usually a bit more modest - but you asked and so we made it. If you'd like to become a fan, we'd be really flattered.

Facebook is the best =]

Facebook's pretty awesome, but I'm gonna have to go with Flickr as my number one.

Facebook's a nicely coded, well designed and thought out site - yet it continues to annoy with the constant application requests and other related crap!

It's not LiveJournal - there've been too many problems in the past.

Last.fm shouldn't have sold out to CBS, but even so, they're my favourite amongst the 'social networking' apps, mainly because they're doing such an awesome job of things.

If you're talking non-social-networking web apps, it'd have to be Orb. It's been fraught with problems in the past (through the beta and immediately afterwards), but I tried it again recently and I'm nothing short of impressed. Admittedly it's a resource hog on the host PC, and it's a little unreliable still - but I really rate it.

It just so happens I have been cataloging all of the web apps I use.

Some favorites that have topped the list:
Remember The Milk task list.
Good Reads - a site to keep track of books you have read, are reading, to read, have abandoned, etc.
Skitch and My Skitch. One of the most amazing little screen shot photo app annotation apps ever.
Gmail - Old reliable. Best web email on the planet.

What is this Skitch?

It is a Mac only screenshot app that lets you do the following immediately:

*annotate with outline text
*add circles, squares, arrows
*upload the photo with the changes to MySkith or even your own ftp or webdav host at the click of a button
*drag and drop into Skitch as well as out of skitch
*immediate "share" link provided once uploaded
*history of changes for the image for immediate revision back to any point of the photo before you changed it

It shares a lot of similarites with the most current version of FastStone Capture for Windows, but it's a LOT slicker and the outlined annotation text and the upload the edited document.to anywhere with a single click is great.

I don't even WORK for Plasq, but I'm evangelizing because it's one of the coolest screenshot apps to ever show up.

Here's a sample image from the first day I got it (a while back)

SF Gate: Multimedia (image)
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

Rememberthemilk does look good actually. I usually use http://tadalist.com/ - but the main problem I have with lists is remembering to update them :/

Yeah, I have that issue as well. I've set up my Mac to open Remember The Milk, Gmail and Google Calendar every morning at 6 AM, so it's right there when I come in for coffee/tea in the AM. :)

I voted LJ.

ilike.com and lj.

Gmaps pedometer for planning bike routes is probably my favourite. Flickr is good too though.

For me, it's flickr, twitter, LJ, facebook (in that order).

Flickr, judging by the amount of time it consumes in my life. Alesti didn't come to mind when I was voting, but it's a feed reader I'm constantly using that works the way I want.

Runners-up: Picnik, LJ, Gmail, Google Calendar.

When most things I do involve web apps, it seems unfair to have to choose one.

Live Journal. A lot of my friends live in other states and even other countries, it allows us all to stay in close contact and know what's going on in each other's lives.

MySpace is evil - evil I tell you!

ooh - that looks great! I've been toying with the idea of joining in bookcrossing too (www.bookcrossing.com). I might investigate this at the weekend. (Too many books, too little space!)

It's like Christmas all year long now, because I've nearly always got a book in my mailbox in the morning. :)

Twitter is crazily addictive.
