MOO Swap

We've shipped a stack of MiniCards out to LiveJournal users recently, and its been great to see you're happy with your cards. Some of you have kept them all to yourselves, some have handed out a couple and are keeping a few, and some have inadvertently handed them *all* out, after a few drinks. (We know how that can happen).

For those who still have a few left, why not join in a MOO-swap?

LJ user themightybee is starting a swapping community over at mooswap. An idea inspired by the Flickr users, it's in the early stages right now, but if you fancy getting involved, why not join? It makes picking up the post a little more interesting in the mornings and means you'll get something nice in amongst the utility bills and takeaway leaflets...(or is it just me that gets those?)

We've seen a few nice photos of your cards around too, these are by Dalboz17.

Moocards in their special pack...

...and catching some sunshine.

Happy swapping!

I'll think of it when i get my cards.
By the way, I'm in France and I still haven't received my cards, how long does it normally take?

I've two questions:

one: I've screwed up and forgotten my password -and- my username and i'm not quite sure what e-mail I used. How can I get it back?

two: I remember last time I was able to log in I noticed I couldn't reorder the same card style from my ten-pack in a box of 100. Why is this?

I can't help ya, but I have to say I love your username.

I heart my MOO cards...I'd like to swap with any artists.

Is it possible to order the text cards other than in the pack of 10?

I loved my little moocards - i put special messages for friends on one side, and why they were special to me on the other. I've been handing them out and so far they've been really well received :)

I don't actually have any photos so I wanted to do text basically.

Cheers :)

if you go to the moo website and click on "live journal" you can then choose to make photo or text mini cards.

Just wanted to leave a comment telling you guys that I just got my 10pack of MiniCards. They are absolutely adorable and I think I'll probably order some more :D

.. I somehow managed to misspell my phone number on them, though.. which makes me sad T___T;
5th Jun, 2007 13:57 (UTC)
At least you didn't do that with your checks... I did that last month (and I ordered 4 boxes!) with my cell number by accidentally typing 3 instead of 2.

I am going through a box at a time to correct each check. It's insane, but keeps me busy during commercials of Shark or Stargate.

A review
Just commenting to let you and your readers know that i'm in the United States and got my text cards yesterday (i never got the photograph thing to work).

Thney are the size i expected them to be, and are a little heavier in weight than your average cheap business card. This pleases me a lot. i expected them to be glossy, but they are a matte finish with ink thick enough to be seen a little bit from the edge, indicating a pretty high-quality coating of ink. The side with the large block of text looks great. The side with my information is okay-looking, more likely due to my uninspired data than their printing.

i made the choice to keep the Livejournal Logo on mine, and used my default user icon. i do not like how fuzzy and compressed my icon looks, but i can live without it in my future order of the cards. The information is printed accurately (i presume that it is completely automated with no employee-data-entry).

i do plan on making an order of these for NaNoWriMo cards, and have considered making one for my belly-dance instructor's troupe as a surprise for them.

I got mine yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I have them all lined up around my computer monitor at work. They cheer up my dismal little cubicle.

I love my moo cards; I think they're perfect to give to friends and family to tuck into their address books to have an attractive reminder of your info. I'm planning on buying moo note cards to send out this christmas, too.

a local shop owner uses them for affordable and great looking business cards.

I got my free cards last week and was pretty pleased with them. I'm thinking of ordering more to use when geocaching, they are the perfect size to fit in the small to mid size caches.

Very quick delivery, I ordered them on the first day it was announced for paid members and got them exactly on the day I was supposed to.

GREAT IDEA! We geocache too and you're right, these would be perfect!

I'm still attempting to claim my free 10-pack of text cards since this whole thing started, but as of yet, I've been unable to get past the repeated error when trying to go to step two.

It gets somewhat tedious when I've whipped up a batch of 10, only to have the site tell me that "something untoward has occured and what was I doing at the time?" when I click the next step button.

If I use the "generate random designs" button, it will allow me to proceed, but that's hardly what I want. The FAQ is not really targetting this problem either, so any help would be appreciated.
5th Jun, 2007 22:41 (UTC)
Sometimes that kind of error is related to what browser you're using or how your firewall (if any) is configured. I know there have been times when I've been trying to order stuff (not from Moocards) where Firefox just absolutely would not work, or ZoneAlarm was blocking something it shouldn't.

Perhaps you could try another browser or shut down the firewall for a few minutes while you order?

I ordered your free promotion cards a day or so after they were announced, and the cards arrived on 4 June. Very fun, thank you for the offer. Your marketing worked, of course, because the free samples did inspire me to order a full packet of 100.

The process of friending your account, loading pictures from the scrapbook and ordering the promo prints was very easy and painless. Good job.

Just got my cards yesterday and they look absolutely fabulous. I can't believe how fast they got here! I can't wait to start passing them out- I'm definitely going to order more in the future!

I'm moving from one side of the US to the other in less than a week and I'm saving my cards to hand out when I get to the new city/university. I suspect that I will order more cards. My journal is my main way of communicating with people and would like to hand out the small cards as a way of having people contact me.

I didn't quite get the idea of how they worked the first time, so I'm sure they will look better the second time. Thanks for the free ones!

Another review.
lesleykajira wrote an excellent review, so I think I will try to do the same about my experience.

My cards arrived in 7 US working days after the order (Memorial Day was in there). I was very excited to see the little envelope (it was of unusual size) in the mailbox because I had been anticipating the package for about six days. I opened it to find an even cooler card with my moocards attached that had LJ information on it(way cool) as well as moo info.

After discovering that the box would come off the card (how interesting!), I took out the little "Yay! You're our new best friend." card (so cute!) and tried to decipher some of the coding on the back. I'm stymied on the following codes:
to: ROW (???)
1432/42/6 (I assume it is a batch code or something)

I'm planning on purchasing a set of cards for Christmas '07/Adventure-Con '08/Dragon-Con '08 use this Fall.

I caution people who are trying to upload pictures to Moo from archival CD's. I was excited to go ahead and order my box of Moo cards, so I spent 40 minutes with 7 archived photo CD's only to discover that I had merely been selecting photos to upload, not actually uploading the photos. You should transfer copies to your HD or Flash Drive, THEN upload the entire bunch to Moo from one place. Don't make the same mistake I did. It will save you time in the end.

Overall, good job, Moo. I like my cards, I'm going to order more, and I would like to manage a US-based branch of your company if you would like to expand your service. I currently live in TN, which is in the middle of it all, so it's an ideal place to set up a franchise. Or, I could just move to London for a few years and work for you. I like the idea of the cards because it encourages people to stay in touch with each other.
